Effects Of Polycarboxylate Superplasticizer On Cement Hydration

Apr 12, 2021

Polycarboxylate superplasticizer has a series of important effects on the properties of cement slurry mainly through adsorption.

This effect mainly includes the following aspects:

(1) prolonging the early period of cement hydration induction;

(2)reduce the surface tension of the solution in the cement slurry and the viscosity of the system;

(3) Introducing air into the system to form micro bubbles, which is conducive to the flow of fresh concrete;

(4) reduce the shear yield stress and plastic viscosity of the cement slurry;

(5) Effectively slow down the hydration rate and heat release rate of cement minerals, improve the volume stability of concrete

(6)due to the significant effect of reducing water to improve the compactness of concrete, and then improve the strength of concrete.

In addition, the existence of water reducing agent may make the crystalline particle size of hydration products smaller, which is conducive to the further improvement of concrete strength.
