Superplasticizer concrete water reducer is made of a molecule with a long chain of carboxylate groups, which are negatively charged. This allows the PCE to disperse cement particles effectively, preventing them from clumping together. Superplasticizer concrete water reducer can also be customized in terms of its molecular structure to suit different types of cement and concrete.
Other types of water reducers, such as lignosulfonates and naphthalene formaldehyde sulphonates, are made of relatively simple molecules and are less effective in generating workability and maintaining it over time. However, they are still widely used in the construction industry due to their lower cost.
