In extreme environments, polycarboxylate superplasticizers need to be modified by the following to enhance adaptability:
1.Extremely low temperature
Introducing anti-freezing groups to lower the freezing point of the solution and prevent the water reducing agent from failing; increase side chain flexibility (long chain polyether) to maintain molecular stretching and dispersion at low temperatures.
2.High temperature/dry environment
Heat-resistant main chain design to reduce high temperature decomposition; slow-release polycarboxylate superplasticizers to retard adsorption depletion at high temperatures.
3.High salt/corrosive environments
Cation-shielding structures to resist the erosion of cement by Cl-, SO₄²-; hydrophobic modification to reduce salt damage to the adsorbed layer.
4.Vacuum/space environment
Non-volatile components to avoid vacuum volatilization; radiation stabilization to resist cosmic ray degradation.
