Effect of mud content on mechanical properties of concrete

Nov 03, 2022

The finer mud particles, on the other hand, have a large specific surface area and do not hydrate. The concrete absorbs a large amount of free water after mixing. As the concrete hydrates or the free water evaporates, serious weak areas are formed in the area where the mud exists. When the mud content is less than 3%, the concrete strength is less affected. The compressive strength of concrete with the same strength, whether it is 3d, 7d or 28d, decreases obviously with the increase of mud content in sand. When > 3, the 28d strength of concrete decreases by about 3% when the mud content increases by 1%. The growth amplitude of concrete strength in the later stage decreases with the increase of mud content. The larger the mud content, the smaller the growth amplitude of concrete strength in the later stage.
